If the lightning was that close, chances are it would've stricken your boat, not the water. Lightning has a tendency to strike the highest object, so if it was just the lake water and your boat, then it would hit you before the water, especially if your boat was metal. [who] nycman92

You would probably be shocked, but it depends on how conductive you and your clothing are, how close you are to the initial lightning strike and dumb luck. You probably wouln't take much of the strike if your far enough away, but I would certainly head for shore at the first sound of thunder. [who] cantbeatbass

I guess It depends on how insulated the boat is.
Think about this, on a cruise ship… when there is a storm.. no one gets electrocuted…So, chances are nothing would happen. [who] Connors Mommy

The electricity would be conducted around you on a near miss. There aren't many near misses, since your boar sticks up above the water, making it a target. If your boat is metal, stay low and hope that the hull will conduct the bolt around you. [who] novangelis
