What kind of heating/lighting does my albino snow corn snake need?
Sierah D asked:
They are nocturnal so they don’t need a lot of lighting is that right? What about black lights? Do they need anything special since he’s albino? I need a source to heat the tank because he’s cold. I have a heating pad but it’s not enough and I heard that heating rocks are dangerous.

Corn snakes are not nocturnal all the time. They are diurnal during the spring and then nocturnal during the summer. Being albino, your snake is more sensitive to bright light than others. In any case, they don’t need special lighting. No need for black lights, UVBs, etc.
You can use a ceramic heat emitter to raise the temperature in the vivarium. Or, you can even use a ceramic heat lamp which you can put on a timer to turn off at night to provide a photo-period as well as heat.
It would be advisable to put heat lamps or heat emitters on a rheostat (dimmer) or thermostat to make sure it doesn’t get too hot. [who] actnow
Corn snake don’t require special lighting. (Not matter what morph) As far as temp you should have a under tank heater on one half of the tank and the water dish on the other. It helps to put the hide over the heated side. Do not use a heat Rock! They are very bad for snakes. You can put a heat lamp on the tank a few hours a day if the temp in your home is cooler. Just make sure the snake can get to a cooler spot to regulate his/her temp. [who] *Renee*
Most snakes do not need to have a type of heat bulb. They don’t even need to have a nightlight. As long as the snake is kept warm. DO NOT use heating rocks. Snakes are known to curl around the heat rock then get burned. Albino Snakes could be injured from too much UVB.
If you need more heat for your snake’s tank, I would reccomend a Basking Spot Lightbulb. You can get them at your local pet store..
