One Response to “What is the difference between direct lighting and indirect lighting in art?”
  1. Mr B says:

Direct lighting in photography and art is when the source of light is uninterrupted while illuminating a subject. Indirect lighting is reflected off of another surface. When properly controlled or channeled, indirect lighting can provide a softer finish on the subject matter, but could also reduce the detail somewhat. Direct lighting, just the reverse, can make the detail more graphic, but then will also reveal imperfections more readily. It all depends upon the goal of the artist or photographer as to how to display a given project. [who]
