what is the best type of lighting for a saltwater reef aquarium?

    It all depends on what type of reef inhabitants you want to keep. If you are planning on keeping Hard corals then MH or VHO lighting or a combination of either of them and PC.
    MH=Metal Halides
    VHO= Very High Output T5 florescent bulbs
    PC= Power Compact
    Without know what size tank or the type of corals you want to keep it is hard to point you in the right direction. If you want to gather your facts and email me that would be fine use subject line of fish fish fish

    Standard 45 gallon tanks are tall, so for more desirable corals your going to want VHO or metal halide. The taller the tank, the higher output lighting you need to reach deeper depths. [who] Ryan N
