For shooting photography in inconvenient areas where there are no (working) electrical outlets, what can I buy to give me a power source? Any kind of rechargeable power supply I can use to power my lighting in the field?

I know Alien Bees makes a dedicated power pack, and some of the other companies do too.

If you want to use a portable power source, make sure not to use modeling lights.

Depending on how much power you are using, you can also buy a Pure Sine Wave inverter and a marine battery. Look at how much power your flashes draw, and buy an inverter that will cover it with some extra available.

It pretty much has to be a pure sine wave, not a modified. The modified ones are garbage, a really dirty power source that can degrade sensitive electronics after a while.

Samlex is a good brand for pure sine wave. A 600 watt runs about 200.00, with another 75.00 for a 12 volt battery. [who] Kevin K

These are the type lighting kits we rent when we do not have access to power from the mains.
