Ana Stasia Nika asked:

“North Huntingdon planning commissioners are brainstorming ideas for a potential township ordinance that would regulate the brightness of lights, particularly those at businesses during the night hours.”

Similar ordinances, promoted by the Pennsylvania Outdoor Lighting Council, have passed in 35 municipalities in the eastern part of the state.

“The council, which is the state affiliate of the International Dark-Sky Association, aims to encourage residents, businesses and municipalities to adopt “good outdoor lighting practices” such as energy-efficient lighting design and operation, limiting light pollution and protecting highway motorists from nuisance glare.”

- especially for businesses that have a lot of valuables to not light up at night doesn’t make much sense.

Against, that is bs. Wait until they can tax it or limit our freedoms in some way and then they will be pushing in mass quantities and call it going green or to prevent global warming. [who] The Man

While I despise federal government sticking its nose where it does not belong, I love local government… In local government the residents and businesses can actually impact the decisions made. In addition to voting with their ballot, they can vote with their feet, and the local council is much more likely to listen. If the locals want less outdoor light they should change things. If they think it’s necessary, they have the right to do it. If you don’t like it, vote them out. [who] gomanyes
