    I teach colour theory to engineers as part of the colour printer courses and your quite right the colour you use to illuminate an object influences your perception of it.
    Each person will see colour slightly differently as well.

    If you have a red light for example and shine it at something green it will absorb the red light so the item will appear black.
    You can use this process in reverse though, choosing a the correct light will accentuate a colour and make it more vibrant and vivid. [who] Answers R Us
