I LOVE using desk lamps for directional light in still-life photos, especially black & white ones. Also, you can use just regular white poster board for simplified backgrounds. Even better, if you want a professional-looking photo in a softbox, you can make a simple one out of paper! Just look up how to make a softbox or light tent out of paper and paperclips! I took this photo with nothing but light from a window and a softbox made out of 4 sheets of paper and 3 paper clips: [who] Tobasco
lol, i do that all the time. You can collect a few white bed sheets and hand them with those inexpensive A claps to stuff. These can either be used as a backdrop or to soften lights.
They take lots of power but i use those yellow tripods with super-strong lights (like in construction sites). I have 150W laps and they rock behind the sheets.
You can hand-build reflectors from foil and make tripods from wood. If you live in an area where you can’t even find a damn studio umbrella (and ordering one can knock you 50$) you can buy a regular white one. I have a few and they work well. [who] Gohaleg
