Can one light bulb in a series of eight recessed lights cause a dimmer switch to stop working?

After the first light bulb burned out, the dimmer function stopped working. Now they will only turn on and off, but not dim. I can add that there is attic space to crawl through to do it… but its kinda tight up there, and I think they would have to cut through plywood (its a V shaped roof).

We have recessed lighting throughout our home. No more lamps and having to buy so many bulbs, or have to have all those cords around. We had dimmer switches put on as well.
