How could I set up lighting with no outlets?

I am planning a student film and will be shooting in an abandoned building. There are no AC outlets and I would like to set up a lighting kit using a generator, but I am worried about the generator’s noise. How should I go about doing this? How do other movies do it?

I want to purchase some lighting to assist in photography what is the best way to start?
