How much water & light should I be giving my indoor plants?

ontario ashley asked:

1. First one is a cane, about 3 feet tall, I just tranplanted it into a pot. It says on the info card “indirect light only”. What does that mean? And how much water should I be giving it, on a daily or weekly basis?

2. Second one is a hanging plant with orange flowers, called “HB Goldfish”. It says “medium to high interior light levels”. So does that mean the plant doesn’t need sunlight, it only needs interior lights?? That seems strange? I’m not sure if I should be putting it in front of a window or just in a room with bright lights?

THanks for your help!!

On the cane by saying “indirect light only” they basically mean don’t stick it in a window… ever burn an ant with a magnifying glass?… same thing…i would water it if it is almost dry..don’t let it dry out completly but don’t keep it wet…

and on the hanging goldfish the medium to high interior light levels just basically means if you can see a shadow with your lights on… it should be good enough just don’t stick it in a window and fry it… thats all it means… refrain from putting it in a window if that window gets direct sunlight through it… [who] kayakakas

    Dear Ontario Ashley,

I am giving my opinion based on my experience regarding your question.

In the hot season don’t give water to the plants at midday.Daily water the plants, when the sun is set down, but before the night . Yes, don’t give too much water to the plants. On the other hand, the earth in which the plants are embed ed, should always be wet and soft. In the hard soil the plants are burnt.

Light: I mean the direct light is also necessary to the indoor plants. At least once a week should take the plants in the open light; but avoid the hottest sun light. You can provide the direct light to the plants in the evenings.

When sun is shining just above the head and very strong, then cover the hanging plants with a light PVC sheet. The sheet should be removed in the evening.

If you will follow my suggestions then I assure you the best results. Now it is up to you.

Wishing the best of luck for you and your plants.

    Yours,
    sincerely,

mum said water once a week but always check with finger if soil is moist its ok. flowering plants need a bit more light so a window that gets an hour or 2 direct sun is ok. Indirect light can be a bright window but no direct sunlight. If you find a good position you will notice your plant looks healthy. Try to grow spare one from cuttings and try another position. but next to window near shady side you cant go wrong [who] brian p

Well it differs from plants to plants to it will be according to what you have and that can be guided by the vendor from whom you are purchasing the plants. [who] Chirag
