How do you get good natural lighting photo shots?

I need to take pictures of myself and other people, but I don’t want to use flash- I want to use natural lighting. So they look real and emotionaly saying something.

Try natural lighting; indoors or out. Indoors, you will probably need to bump the ISO up to at least 400. Check for excess noise if you go to 800 or higher, though.
You can use deflectors and reflectors to bounce the light into areas where you need it. You can use one or many, as required. Sorry there are so MANY in this link, but you will get the idea. You can even use a white piece of paper or a blank white poster (What are they; 2′x3′?) as a reflector. You will need an extra person to hold the reflector up if you can’t prop it somehow. A big piece of aluminum foil works, too, but you might want to crumple it up a bit and then stretch it back out.
If this doesn’t work for you, try using a bounced flash with a diffuser in place. [who] Dr. Sam
the light source need to be behind, or right beside you. at the level of their face.
( no shadows)
if you bounce the light off the ceiling, it will make shadows under their features ( eyes, nose, mouth) ( like being outside in the sun)
if you have it from the floor up, it won’t look right, as the light will make shadows above their features)
don’t use a light source behind them [who] papeche
Photography is all about capturing the light for a desired result – therefore, whether you are using natural or artificial light, you need to be thinking about the light source/direction/balance, etc. and how to control it using fill lights, reflectors, etc.
since you are taking photos of people, I suggest getting a good book/guide on portrait photos. Here’s a good link to get started: [who] Chuckie
