How can I get amazing lighting for a mock photoshoot without any professional equipment?

I’m conducting a mini-shoot for a friend and it’s not professional. Still, we want to get some really good lighting/spotlighting but we don’t know what we can use. Any suggestions, and I don’t want stupid answers.

Some camera stores that sell pro/prosumer caliber gear rent equipment like lighting on daily or weekly bases. Check your ‘yellow pages’ (print or online) for a camera store near you. If you’re being that serious about it, it doesn’t sound like a mock shoot – it’s real!

You can use ‘work lights’ you can buy at home stores like Home Depot and they are relatively inexpensive, like $40 for two 500 watt lamps on a tripod.
Just remember to use Tungsten film or set your digital camera to incandescent white balance
That will give you some lights, but getting amazing lighting, you will have to use traditional lighting techniques.
