Jenessa Z asked:

I haven’t cleaned my room in about a year, there was alot of settled dust and airborne dust, so today, i cleaned and vacuumed but still, theres a thick dust in my room, will lighting a candle help burn some of that airborne stuff?

Or any other ways of helping this?

I doubt it. Candles won’t help. You need to dust more often and use a damp cloth. A vacuum gets up more dust than a broom.

Clean every week and you won’t have this problem. [who] Ayliann

If its been a year, don’t expect it to be all better in a day.

Your curtains, bedding, carpeting, even clothes have have a lot of dust in them, and any movement of them — like getting into bed, putting on a jacket, walking on a carpet that has a year of dirt ground into it, will trigger dust motes.

And no, candles won’t help. instead they will make matters worse by making the dust thicker, dirtier, and gummer.

Get an air cleaner, and vacuum several more times, making sure the collection bag is emptiedfrequently, and that filters are clean — otherwise your vacuum can blow dust back into the room, which might have happened. Vacuum at least once a month. [who] Lady S

Sounds like you are not getting proper ventilation. Open a window for a while. Candles don’t get rid of dust. [who] Ikkin

nope the only way to get rid of that is to dust your room my girl so get out the pledge and start dusting then you can say your room is fully cleaned.you will be so proud of yourself. [who] donna d

Candles will result in the production of PIC’s (Particles of Incomplete Combustion) and will compound the problem. The only solution is to remove/clean what is already present, then make sure that in the future you make sure your room isn’t closed up all the time and has good airflow and your residence has its hvac filters changed regularly. You can further reduce further dust deposition by increasing the quality of the filter and by vacuuming regularly with a hepa vacuum cleaner. [who] windmarkbob
