Do Amish people still mainly use oil/kerosene lamps for home lighting, or are they switching to LED’s?

Oil and kerosine still produce CO2 Gas – but they have the spiritual light. [who]

Well if Amish people DO USE electric, why don’t they just have light bulbs?
you seem pretty ignorant yourself. [who]
True Amish people do not use electricity, at least those I know of in Indiana. [who]
I don’t know about the leds, but the Amish that I knew up in Montana didn’t use any electricity at the time I live there. That was some 15 years ago or so. I will be interested to find out. [who]
Many amish people use LED’s on their buggies because the law requires them to use some type of electric lights as headlights for vehicles. [who]
Some Amish are more tolerant of modern innovation than others, but the last time I was in largely Amish area, I didn’t seen LEDs.
They’re perhaps used for emergencies, i.e. flashlights and sick cattle.
The real problem is that the Amish are by nature pragmatic people within their religion. And LED light systems are too new and too expensive for the result. It’s too cutting edge for them.
That might change, but not now. [who]
Don’t confuse Amish with the Mennonites. We have a large Amish community here, about 40 miles outside Cleveland. They have no phones, no electricity. They do accept rides from others in automobiles, but they still use horses for their own transportation. With the price of gas and heating costs, maybe they’re not so backwards after all. [who]
