I run lighting for some productions at a junior high and I’m wondering what the name is for the connection of the controls. There are three wide connectors (probably 15 to 25 pins apiece arranged similar to a pre-USB printer connector) and one 5-pin connector (not DMX) that go from the board to the wall. The wide connectors are labeled for <1-24>, <25-48>, .

Ideally, I’d like to see if there’s some way to convert whatever this protocol is to DMX for use with more current consoles.

VectorWorks is definitely the best and nothing will be as good as it, or ever come close. But, can anyone recommend a free alternative to this? I will primarily using such a program to create lighting plots.

I was just wondering, how Ibsen would have created more of an atmosphere during the tarentella dance. what lighting would he have used to show furthur noras state of mind, keeping in mind that the play is very naturalistic and green and purple lights flashing around rapidly as nora dances is not naturalistic. I am considering a career in the area of lighting design, unfortunately there aren’t many resources online that provide much information. So I’m wondering are there any schools that provide a specializes degrees in this field. Should I go for a degree in theater with a concentration in lighting? For people who work in this field how hard is it to find a job, and how well does it pay. I’m not looking to become immediately wealthy, but I would like to know I’d be able to support myself with this job. Are there any websites or resources online that will give me more information???
