I brought it home…fixed it’s tank up nice and put him in. Let him rest a while…then fed him. I just was confused at the lighting. When should I put it on? Tonight? in the morning? How can I start his routine ya know? Also, how many pellets of food should go into the tank for one feeding? Thanks! =)

Lozenges asked:

I’ve recently bought two baby RES turtles, but I’m very inexperienced with raising reptiles. I’m a bit confused about lighting and lamps for turtles…Is a heat lamp and UVB lighting the same thing? Do I need two separate lamps for the turtles? For UVB, where can I find decent lamps? I heard that infrared lamps did not work well, and also that incandescent lamps work fine (which I defintely know doesn’t work now). Can someone recommend some brands for good lights? Thanks!

I am building a new enclosure for our Iguanas and I was wondering if someone could give me some advice on the best UVB and Heat lighting to use for them. The enclosure is going to be a duplex of sorts, with a total length of 6′ and a depth of 3′ and a height of 6′, divided in the center into two seperate units. I am not sure what is the best brand, model and type of lighting for the Iguanas. Any help appreciated.

They are nocturnal so they don’t need a lot of lighting is that right? What about black lights? Do they need anything special since he’s albino? I need a source to heat the tank because he’s cold. I have a heating pad but it’s not enough and I heard that heating rocks are dangerous.

I have just bought a Calabar Python, a rare burrowing snake, and I am planning on keeping it in a 30 long Glass aquarium. I already have a 75 watt infared heat bulb and a heating pad, is there any other kind of lighting I need to add live plants? Also, any plant suggestions?
