What are your thoughts on local governments dictating lighting usage to local businesses?
“North Huntingdon planning commissioners are brainstorming ideas for a potential township ordinance that would regulate the brightness of lights, particularly those at businesses during the night hours.”
Similar ordinances, promoted by the Pennsylvania Outdoor Lighting Council, have passed in 35 municipalities in the eastern part of the state.
“The council, which is the state affiliate of the International Dark-Sky Association, aims to encourage residents, businesses and municipalities to adopt “good outdoor lighting practices” such as energy-efficient lighting design and operation, limiting light pollution and protecting highway motorists from nuisance glare.”

- especially for businesses that have a lot of valuables to not light up at night doesn’t make much sense.
