I have recently purchased a large quantity of lighting gels for film and stage productions and am wondering how most people end up organizing them to keep them from scratching and deteriorating quickly. These are standard 21″ by 24″. Currently, the gels came in a large metal box of the same dimensions, but I fear they may deteriorate quicker and this, of course, is very cumbersome when searching through to find particular colors, as 300+ gels stacked on top of each other gets quite heavy.

I am taking pregnancy portraits of my brother and his wife.. I am a an amateur photographer.. mostly of landscapes and what not.. or even outside pictures.. but we are doing these inside their house… at around 6:30 or 7.. when it is already getting dark.. how can I create good lighting.. any ideas or tricks?

Im just starting out and dont h ave the money right now to go get pro lights and backdrops and everything . so Im scrounging around for dark sheets and thinsg to use for backdrops and lamps. but do you have any sugestion of other things? or ways i can set up the lights or whatever so that it will make nice shadows and things?
