What kind of lighting do I need for an indoor garden?
I live in an apartment and I want to start an indoor vegetable garden but I don’t know very much about gardening. I can kill just about anything. I think I need some type of UV lighting for the plants to grow. And is there any particular time of the year I should plant? Since I am trying to do it indoors I don’t think the weather should be much of an issue.
What type of light bulb produces the clearest light?
I’m really sick of the yellow tint that incandescent and compact fluorescent bulbs have, and am looking for something that produces clear white light. LED lights are clear, but a bulb full of those is really expensive. Does anyone know about halide lights, or another type of light?
How do they light up the exterior walls of entire buildings like casino?
I was just in Vegas and Laughlin, NV. The MGM Grand (I think) and the Tropicana Express in Laughlin have the entire exterior of the building illiuminated. How do they do this and still hide the source of the light and how are they able to make the light spread so evenly as to almost make the building look as if it were painted by light?
Lastly, do you know where I can buy these lights to use on my home? Any online DYI plans?
Thanks
How do I make the light from my fluorescent lightbulbs look warmer in color?
I just replaced my regular light bulbs with cfl’s in an effort to do my part in protecting the environment. But I’m feeling really conflicted now, because the cfl light is just horrible, and makes all the warm colors in my apartment look dull and washed-out. Is there a way to make the light look more like the light from a regular light bulb?? Please help. Thanks.
What is the best type of outdoor security lighting for a home?
We live close to a major road that gets quite a bit of foot traffic. Now we keep our property dark at night and have a motion detecting flood light. We’ve been told that the exterior should be illuminated. My concern is that if the house is lit up at night…things like patio furnature, bikes and skate boards will be visible…and therefore more of a target.
Thanks in advance for your help…Rob

Will a cactus live under fluorescent lighting?
I have a small cactus in a small pot on my desk at work. I am not near a window with sunlight. But, there are fluorescent lights everywhere that are always on. Will this lighting be sufficient for the cactus to live? If so, how often do I water it?
I want to emphasize there is no natural sunlight around my desk, only artificial light.
Does anyone know how to remove oxidation from exterior lighting fixtures?
I installed all new low voltage exterior landscape lighting three years ago. The fixtures now have fairly noticable oxidation. I believe that they are powder coated cast aluminum. I have 20 path lights, a large five lamp pole fixture, and several floods that all have the same problem.
I invested a fairly substansial amount of time and money in this lighting and I would like to find some way to remove the oxidation without having to replace all of the lights.
