I am going to use a 30 degree flood, 60 watt, par 16 for the rest of the recessed lights and am wondering if I should use the same for the wall washer. I am trying to light up a fireplace.

We have a set of fluorescent lights in our kitchen. When we throw the switch: Sometimes they immediately light up. Sometimes they light up after a time. Sometimes they never light up at all. It seems they are taking longer and longer to light up. What should I do to have them light up when I turn them on?

I have an aluminum wired home built in 1975. I was going to add a bathroom exhaust fan, and now realize after research about arcing issues between aluminum/copper wirings. Does this mean that I can’t add much other than aluminum rated light switches to my home. I was planning on adding the earlier mentioned bathroom exhaust, and adding can lights to brighten the place up.

Realtors: Do you find “Value/Curb Appeal” in landscape lighting when showing a home? (not the cheap solar)

I’ve had a Home Staging company ask if we would set up lighting in the fronts of homes for customers who are selling their homes. I was wondering if the realty community had any opinions on the value of quality landscape lighting. I’m not talking the store bought cheap fixtures – either solar or plastic light kits, but metal low voltage lights for the sidewalks, lighting for pillars and brick/stone face, along with any trees etc.

Marty K asked:

I own a bar/club and have a black painted drywall ceiling about 25 ft from the ground. The color we used to decorate most of the club is fluorescent green so i’m trying to “paint” the ceiling or the perimeter of the ceiling with green lighting. What kind of lighting should i use for this effect? Any and all suggestions would be appreciated. Thanks in advance.

What kind of lighting do you use with a cathedral ceiling?

natz asked:

My family room plans call for a cathedral -type ceiling that is flat in the center so it is easier to install lighting cans. I prefer cathedral ceilings that come to a peak. It seems more dramatic and there is no 2nd floor over the room anyway. What type of lighting do people typically use with cathedral ceilings?
