I am going to video several people sitting in a chair indoors with a digital video camera. What type light would I need and would a soft light or fluorescent light bulb work? What watt would I need? Should the light be placed above or below the camera?

I don’t have any professional equipment but I do have two floor lamps and one desk lamp… Lately I’ve been just using one lamp in the corner with the shade off and it provides the room with a lot of light, but little of it shows up on the camera. I think maybe the camera just sucks, but what else could I do to improve the lighting?
