Chewey asked:

I have a fluorescent lighting controller for one of my fish tanks that is rated for a 600mm x 26mm diam 18w tube. Power supply is 240v 50Hz. Can I safely put a longer tube (ie 900mm) in this unit?
I also have a controller for a 450mm tube at 15w and would like to know how much more light I can get this to power.

The main thing to watch will be the wattage of the tubes. Your controller and it’s ballast are designed to work for only one wattage of bulb. As long as the wattage is the same, the length of the tube will not matter.
