I am going to video several people sitting in a chair indoors with a digital video camera. What type light would I need and would a soft light or fluorescent light bulb work? What watt would I need? Should the light be placed above or below the camera?

Julia asked:

I am just wondering because I have extremely light blue eyes and have had many stys, really watery eyes, very sensitive to light and all of that fun stuff. All of that’s pretty minor but I heard that light eyes is linked to both blindness and deafness which is kind of scary. Is there any relation between all of it?

What is the light mounted on the back of the highway access ramps meter lights for?

In Wisconsin I’ve noticed there are many ramp meter lights that have an additional light mounted facing backwards on the pole. Obviously the oncoming ramp traffic cannot see this light, so what is it for? Traffic never flows in reverse on the ramp, so that isn’t a reason either.

How to set up a 2 light bulb, 2 switch circuit with a timer attached to one light?

Pong de Beer asked:

I want to make a light system in which the operator can turn on either one of the two lights with their own respective switch. Attached to one of the lights is a timer that will tell how long that particular light has been on.

I have little electrical experience but I doesn’t sound all that difficult. All I need is maybe a few suggestions as to what kind of parts to use/ how to assemble them.

How do you fix a bent light socket after removing a broken light bulb?

I removed a broken light bulb in a hanging light fixture but unfortunately bent the socket enough so a new light bulb will not screw in all the way. Is there a product that would screw in the socket to reshape it? Removing the socket looks nearly impossible the way the fixture is built and replacing the light fixture will be expensive.

How does a light controlled by two different switches work?

Justin asked:

In my house, there is a dining room with two different light switches that control the same light. I always thought that a light switch works by opening and closing the circuit controlling the flow of electricity to the light.

However, if the light can be turned on and off by both switches then how does the circuit really work? For example, if I walk into the room with both switches set on off and the light is off and turn one of the switches on, turning the light on then walk over to the other switch turning it to on as well. Instead of giving the light more power, it turns the light off. This puzzles me because it shouldn’t be opening the circuit that the other switch is physically closed on.

What size aquarium light should I get for my planted tank?

chickingirl19 asked:

I read that a good rule of thumb is watts for every gallon? I have a 29gallon aquarium, so 29-58 watts of light? I find that a huge difference. I also find it especially difficult to find a light with this wattage to be the correct size for my tank. It seems the higher the wattage, the longer the light. But if I go any smaller in size, the wattage is reduced. I also read that 2 fluorescent lights may be used, but my hood will only house one light. My plants require low-medium light, and low-medium growth rate, ph of 6.0-8.0, so they’re generally easy plants to look after. I am experienced keeping Angels, but I can’t seem to keep a plant alive! I am trying! There are HUGE benefits with plants and my Angels are happier. Every article I read about lighting for plants contradicts another article I read. One article says that the K rating means nothing, and another article’s author swears by using 5000-10000K lights. WHAT do I get? Help!
I mean 1-2 watts for every gallon!

What are the lesser light and greater lights referred to in the book of Genesis?

frustrated asked:

I’m trying to read the Bible, but have more questions than answers. It refers to a greater light to govern the day, and a lesser light to govern the night. I assumed it menat the sun and the moon, but reading on it says and then he made the stars. Since the sun is a star, that can’t be the greater light, because surely God knows the sun is a star. Any feedback at all would be appreciated!

Soccer913 asked:

I need to provide enough light to fill a stage for a band. The room is light up with blacklights, however, and I am worried if I put too much light on the stage that it will fade out the blacklights.

Any ideas?
